Symlin is a bioengineered form of amylin launched by Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2005. Symlin has been approved by the FDA as part of a treatment involving insulin to control blood sugar in adults with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Symlin is administered through injection.
Byetta is a bioengineered form of Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 launched by Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2005. Byetta has been approved by the FDA as part of a treatment involving metformin, a sulfonylurea, or a thiazolidinedione to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. Byetta is administered as an injection.
Eligibility
Amylin Reimbursement Hotline is the core patient assistance program provided by Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc.. They offer Byetta and Symlin at no cost for a 6 month supply to those who are eligible for the program. Eligibility is based off of the following requirements:
You must not be covered by private or public health insurance.
You must be a citizen of the United States or its Territories.
You must meet an undisclosed income guideline.
Those eligible for Medicare Part D but not enrolled may still be eligible.
Eligible patients will receive a pharmacy card that may be used once a month.
